Best Vegan Perfumes

What perfumes are vegan and cruelty free?

Finding a really good ethical perfume is getting easier. However, finding vegan AND cruelty free perfume brands can still be challenging! Not Anymore!

Which perfumes are cruelty free UK?

Allow me to introduce you to Eden Perfumes

These wizards make perfumes that mimic (very closely) your favourite perfume (which might not be as kind to animals as you’d hoped). They have hundreds of reviews and many thousands of happy customers that have already converted to a much kinder way of life.

What does Eden perfume smell like?  Best answer: Amazing!

The even better news is that they are not expensive.

This specialist perfume company is a tribute to the glory days of real perfumery and they lovingly make beautiful natural vegan perfumes that are alternatives to the mass-produced fragrances made in factories using synthetic ingredients, as opposed to essential oils.

Eden Perfumes are made by hand in small batches of the best quality. They have a select range of perfumes which you just have to get to know – and they are cruelty free and never tested on animals.

It’s interesting to note that everybody is unique when it comes to the individual characteristics of the smell of a given fragrance. So you may smell slightly different to your friend for the same fragrance.

It gets even more interesting when you find that you can smell different when you apply an Eau de Parfum to when you apply a Perfume Oil to your body. It’s a testament to the unique skill of the master perfumer and the expert use of essential oils.

Eden Perfumes are never tested on animals and do not contain any ingredients derived from animals.

Simply type in ‘Perfume’ into the search box at the top of the page to list the Eden Perfumes range.

Walden Perfumes

Here is another new and ground-breaking fragrance house which produces the most exclusive perfumes. All their fragrances (they don’t make eau de toilette), are naturally vegan and cruelty free.

A Different Drummer

A Different Drummer opens with a rich blast of Tobacco followed by peppery Cedarwood and Patchouli to finish with creamy hints of Amyris, Vanilla and Tonka Bean.

“…it starts with a blast of pepper and is followed by a creamy and warm blend of Amber and Cedarwood. This vegan scent was the one that changed the most with my own body chemistry and just like the Solid Earth I felt it is a lovely unisex option.”

A Gentle Rain

A Gentle Rain is a luxurious vegan fragrance that grows with a blend of oak moss, labdanum and patchouli. The heat that follows is composed of bergamot, smooth orris, sandalwood and timeless rose de mai. With notes of vetiver, lavender green and clary sage.

A Little Star Dust

A Little Star-Dust is a bouquet of beauty, with Ylang Ylang, Iris and Jasmine enriched with hints of creamy Amyris and exotic Tonka Bean.

“A Little Stardust is my personal favourite from the range. It is a floral scent, soft but with some depth to it. The blend contains Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Iris as well as Tonka bean and Amyris which gives it  sweet note at the end. It’s easy to wear day or night and is simply lovely. ” – Ana

Castles In The Air

Castles in the Air is a fresh, intoxicating blend of Citrus with a hint of tropical flowers and lavender. Reviews “A quick spritz on the wrists releases an immediate fresh and Spring-like scent with key notes of Bergamot, Lemon, and Mandarin, on a calming base of Lavender and Rosemary.

“Castles In The Air has such a relaxing effect on my mind and helps to put me in a good mood for rest of the day which is probably why I love it so much! ” – Evelyn

Live The Life

This gem of a perfume successfully combines the refreshing top notes of Bergamot and Orange with middle notes of Tuberose and Sweet violet, not forgetting the exotic base notes of Sandalwood, Brazilian rosewood and China jasmine to create a fresh yet beguiling scent reminiscent of a magical midsummer stroll through a wild flower meadow.

See The Moonlight

See the Moonlight is an intoxicating Chypre fragrance that opens with fresh Bergamot followed by a heart of Jasmine and hints of Rose.  The finish is luxurious Sandalwood and exotic Ambrette Seed.

The Solid Earth

The Solid Earth opens fresh with bracing Petitgrain followed by a heart of Light Patchouli Oil and Black Pepper to finish off with creamy Vetiver and Amyris.

“It starts off as a rich, woody scent. I love that it is not what society might consider a traditionally feminine aroma, but I did worry if it was perhaps too sharp. However, the scent soon settles into a smooth, earthy lightness, with hints of refreshing citrus coming through.” – Nadia

Tonic Of Wildness

Let this wonderful mysterious and unfathomable unisex perfume take you on an olfactory journey starting off with the fresh beauty and light heartedness of Bergamot, Grapefruit and Sour Orange moving to the woody middle notes of Black Pepper, Cardamom and Cabreuva towards the mysterious and sultry base notes of Iris Pallida and Ylang Ylang.

Two Eternities

Two Eternities is a garland of Wild Roses, Jasmine and Iris floating above a fresh Citrus base of Mandarin, Bergamot and Sweet Orange.

“The perfume opens with bright, zesty and sweet notes before becoming deeply floral with sensual jasmine, rose and iris. Citrus notes appear again in the base notes. I absolutely love the scent…” – Sandra

Things you didn’t know about the perfume industry!

The main part of the price you pay for the highly advertised perfumes is, advertising! So it doesn’t take much imagination to realise that the cost to actually make it, is a lot less.

Mainstream perfumes don’t tend to use natural ingredients simply because these ingredients are far too expensive and don’t make their business model viable (profitability) and also, these ingredients are just not available in the quantities required for mass production.

Synthetic perfume costs comparatively little to make and most of the cost goes towards paying for those glossy celebrity adverts.

Natural vegan perfumes are made using only natural ingredients such as absolutes, essential oils and resins.

Mainstream perfumes use synthetic materials made by chemical processes as these are cheaper and can be mass produced.

In natural vegan perfume the main costs are down to the ingredients, which can be as high as £20,000/Kg in the case of Tuberose Absolute or Bulgarian Rose Otto.

Natural perfumeries tend to be much smaller as natural ingredients are not available in industrial quantities. They are normally headed by a perfumer who creates the scents in-house.

All beauty products sold in the EU must be certified for safety. This is to ensure that they do not contain harmful ingredients or allergens in high concentrations.

All perfumes sold in the UK, have all undergone rigorous safety assessments. The levels deemed safe for perfume ingredients is set by IFRA after testing and research.
